Republic Bank of Chicago is participating in the FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through June 30, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.
Noninterest-bearing checking accounts include Demand Deposit Accounts (DDAs) and any transaction account that has unlimited withdrawals and that cannot earn interest. Also included is low-interest NOW accounts (NOW accounts that cannot earn more than 0.5% interest) and IOLTA accounts. The Interest Bearing Checking, Elite Checking and Commercial NOW accounts offered by Republic Bank are not covered under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program but are covered under the applicable FDIC general deposit insurance rules.
